Joanna Rowntree 1968 - 2006
We recently received sad news about the loss of Joanna Rowntree, an internationally recognized conservator from the Nasher Sculpture Center.
Joanna was a member of the Advisory Committee for the newly formed INCCA North America group. She wrote the following in response to her invitation to join the committee in 2005:
I believe in the INCCA project very strongly and would love to become more involved in any way possible. I think it is tremendously important for North America to have a voice in this and I agree that it should be
carefully studied and thought out before launching into. The feasibility study will be critical and I look forward to participating in the Advisory Committee.
On behalf of all INCCA members and both INCCA steering committee we would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Joanna's family, friends and colleagues. She will be missed.

We would also like to inform you of the following important initiative: Memorial fund for Joanna Rowntree
Joanna Rowntree was passionate about contemporary art and artists, and she devoted her professional life to conservation of modern sculpture. In her memory, an annual lecture on these topics is being established at the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation. It will augment the current curriculum and will give students an opportunity to learn about artists' methods and the conservation challenges of modern materials. If you'd like to contribute to the fund that will support this
lecture, please send checks made out to University of Delaware with "Art Conservation/Joanna Rowntree Fund" in the memo line. They should be sent to:
