The Department of Art, Religion and Cultural Sciences of the University of Amsterdam has a vacancy for a Professor of Conservation and Restoration, 38 hours per week (1.0 FTE)
The chair in Conservation and Restoration comprises teaching and research in the area of conservation and restoration of movable cultural heritage.
The study programme is structured as follows. The Bachelor’s phase consists of a 30 EC minor programme (part of a Humanities and Science Bachelor’s programme) followed by a two-year Master’s programme in Restoration Science focusing on eight fields of expertise, culminating in a two-year postgraduate study track resulting in the title of restorer. Practice-based education on conservation and restoration, some of which is provided as a part of real-world restoration projects, makes up a key part of the curriculum and is highly interwoven with the theoretical restoration courses. The Faculty’s BA programmes are taught within the College of Humanities, while MA and doctorate programmes are administered within the Graduate School for Humanities.
